IPIS is looking for a university student for 15 hours a week (average) during 3 months (renewable) to assist the GIS and data team with data processing, statistical analysis and development of interactive dashboards.
About the IPIS GIS and data team: IPIS processes a large amount of (geographic) information which is published in reports, maps and dashboards. The GIS and data team – a small team of two to three people – assists the multiple IPIS research projects with collecting, processing, and visualising data whilst optimising the data workflow using automation principles. In addition, to facilitate data exploration and to communicate key findings, we conceive and develop digital tools such as static/interactive dashboards and webmaps. Over these last years, we have evolved to an Open Source and Open Data oriented modular system where there is also place for experimentation and improvement.
Your role:
You will work within the GIS and data team, providing support to different research projects related to conflict analysis and natural resources good governance in sub-Sahara Africa. You will contribute to the management of IPIS’ databases and support research projects in producing relevant statistics, visualisations and apps – in collaboration with IPIS GIS and data colleagues. As IPIS is continually improving and streamlining its data management processes, you will also be encouraged to explore and develop new ideas.
