IT Chapter Lead – Data Analytics

 

Your role & work environment

 

We are looking for an energetic IT Chapter Lead that combines knowledge of IT in the Web Analytics and Machine Learning domains with strong people management and organizational skills. 

You will split your time between:

  • Working as an experienced engineer in a squad whose goal is supporting and evolving our Web Analytics platform
  • Managing your chapter of +-6  engineers, coaching & helping them to grow in their career
  • Supporting our Machine Learning Engineering chapter during the transition to the Next Generation machine learning platform, based on public cloud capabilities

 

You & your chapter are part of the IT Area ‘Fraud & 1-1 Analytics’ within the Tech BE Customer & Data Domain. Functionally you help deliver value within the business tribe ‘Digital & Customer Interactions’. The contributions of you & your chapter will help in leveraging data analytics tools and techniques to reach our business objectives (boosting digital sales, making customer interactions even more personal, etc.)

 

Like all employees, you will apply the Hybrid Mode, aimed at balancing working remotely, with collaborating on-site with your colleagues in the same location (50/50). Your primary office location will be the Brussels Office of ING Belgium at Court Saint Michel/Sint Michielswarande.

 

Your key responsibilities

 

Take a leading role in the delivery of the squad you work in

  • Integrate the Adobe Analytics web analytics platform with ING’s user applications (website, phone apps)
  • Translate business requirements from Data Analysts to technical designs
  • Develop components for ING website and phone apps to send user interactions data to the Adobe Analytics platform
  • Support the business in using the Adobe Analytics platform

 

Support our Machine Learning Engineering squad during the migration to GCP

  • Help the Data Scientists convert their models to run on GCP Dataproc
  • Modify our Python in-house ML tools to make them run on GCP Dataproc

 

Grow your chapter

  • Performance management:
    • Manage the performance evaluations of your chapter members, based on input from the Product Owner, the Agile Coach and peers
    • Identifies top performance and takes action at an early stage for underperformance.
  • Resourcing
    • Hire new talents – retain existing ones
    • Manage resource planning of the engineers in your chapter with the IT Area Lead and other stakeholders like the Product Owners of the squads. 
  • People management
    • Encourage & support chapter members to develop themselves (e.g. training opportunities, rotating missions, etc.)
    • Provide active coaching on both professional & personal development aspects
    • Foster knowledge sharing within your chapter, to help each other grow
  • IT Strategy
    • Help translate the IT vision & strategy into concrete deliverables for the squads

We are looking for

 

You are an ambitious, enthusiastic software engineer, with a talent for helping others to grow.

You enjoy designing, developing, testing and maintaining complex data-driven systems, but also to coach junior engineers on their hard/soft skills.

You have worked hands on with Web Analytics tools.

You are a good programmer with a strong theoretical basis, and can bring these insights to others.

You are able to write clean, correct, efficient and maintainable code, while collaborating closely with both other engineers and data analysts.

You are curious by nature, and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field is part of your DNA.

 

More specifically, we are looking for the following hard skills:

  • Experience and robust knowledge in developing Web Components in Javascript
  • Experience and robust knowledge in developing Web backends in Java or Scala
  • Familiarity with RDBMS systems (eg. Oracle)
  • General Web Architecture knowledges (DNS, Cloud storage, Networking, …)
  • Experience in developing and invoking Web APIs (SOAP, REST)
  • Experience with Web Analytics tools (Adobe Analytics is preferred)
  • Familiarity with ELK stack and knowledge in how to integrate web applications with it
  • Knowledge of Git
  • Experience with CD/CI automation using any tools (Azure Devops is preferred)
  • Awareness of IT Risk security themes and ability to act on vulnerability findings

 

The following skills are a big plus:

  • Being hands-on with Big Data Tooling - Hadoop, Yarn, Spark, Hive
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and transformations using tools such as Spark, sql, pandas, etc.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning concepts
  • Experience working with Google Cloud platform (GCP)
  • Experience with Python development
