Your work environment

You will work in ING Belgium’s Wholesale Banking team, a commercial department of approx. 250 people serving on large corporates and publicly listed companies across a range of sectors.

Specifically, you will work in a duo with the Business Manager to the Head of Wholesale Banking Belgium. The Business Manager acts as a trusted advisor, sounding board and strategic project manager to the Head of Wholesale Banking, with responsibilities across a wide range of diverse topics (HR/people strategy, communications, business transformation, stakeholder management, non-financial risk, …).

This internship will focus primarily on the HR/People Strategy, but will also touch on other areas according to need and your own interests. You will play a key role in designing, building and executing the people strategy, which aims to make Wholesale Banking Belgium a better place to work by supporting career development, building pride in the work we do, attracting and retaining the right colleagues, and recognising the contribution of both individuals and teams.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management, including the HR Business Partner, and collaborate with the full scope of teams and profiles represented in Wholesale Banking Belgium. You will be a fully integrated member of the Wholesale Banking team, which consists of young, energetic and motivated people from diverse backgrounds.

Your key responsibilities

The intern will become a full team-member working alongside the Business Manager and management team. Depending on experience, job level and background, the role includes a.o.:

• Contribute to the design & launch of a new mentorship program
• Provide project support to the 8 co-creation workstreams where colleagues are designing initiatives around topics like internal recruitment, global mobility, client relationships, streamlining processes, recognition of achievements, etc.
• Organise networking & community events both in-person and virtually
• Assist with the organisation of large community & team-building events, e.g. townhalls, end-of-year party, tournaments, etc.
• Support diversity & inclusion initiatives
• Ad hoc tasks related to other topics (project management, communications, non-financial risk, etc.) according to need and interest
• Support & participate in management meetings on relevant topics

• A relevant bachelor’s degree and demonstrated interest in banking and/or people topics
• A team player with good communication skills
• Fluent in English verbally and written.
• Strong project management skills
• Strong presentation skills
• Good eye for detail
• Eager to learn and share knowledge with colleagues
• Ability to work independently on various tasks/projects at the same time, and prioritise accordingly
