Dev Engineer Java for Sepa Direct Debits in Brussel

ING is looking for a DEV engineer who wants to join the core team building a Sepa Direct debit Payment Engine.

Our Direct debit engine is currently implemented on mainframe technologies. It has served us tremendously and still is every day. But technology is evolving. Coming years we will build a complete new stack with cutting edge technologies.

Java, akka, Cassandra, Kubernetes, Openshift, kafka , Elastic search, Azure Pipeline are some of the technologies we will be using.

We believe that business value is delivered by Agile top engineers working together in high performing DevOps teams, according to the Scrum framework. Teams are composed of both Dev and Ops Engineers, sometimes sharing responsibilities.

You will deliver business value across the entire end-to-end application chain together with your team. You understand the total stack and contribute to all activities on your backlog: You can move all typical stories and tasks from To Do to Done.

Besides building beautiful and maintainable code, you will :

• Build CI/CD pipelines
• Make our solution maintainable, efficient, resilient, secure, compliant and meeting ING standards
• Contribute in application design
• Refinement and planning with your team, teams from the involved E2E chain and the Product Prepare & estimate new features
• Follow change management and incident management procedures

As a DEV Engineer you will also need:

• Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, preferably in IT, or Econometrics
• Certifications and/or proven proficiency in one or more programming languages, specialized in Java development, using Java 8
• Strong knowledge about HTTP, REST API’s and JSON are crucial
• Strong knowledge about Kafka
• knowledge about Elasticsearch is a plus
• knowledge about MinIO(s3)  is a plus
• Strong knowledge of automation tools is a plus
• Strong Knowledge of NoSQL Database like Cassandra is a plus
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, reactive programming  is a plus
• Strong knowledge of akka systems (stream & actor) is a plus
• Work experience in an Agile organization and you have proven Agile mindset and behavior.
• You have broad experience in the activities described in ‘What will you do?”
• An excellent spoken and written command of English.
