Your role & work environment

Within the Financial Management department, we are looking for a Finance Treasury Controller & Advisor being part of the Finance Treasury team. The Finance Treasury team is part of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Financial Accounting Control & Advice within the Financial Management department. The CoE is composed of 3 teams: Finance Treasury, Lending & Commercial Bank and Ledger Manager & Analysis.

The Finance Treasury team is in charge of the Finance dimensions of Group Treasury (GT) ranging from financial accounting (covering also Financial Markets) and internal control over management accounting and budgeting & forecasting to business advice

As Finance Treasury Controller & Advisor, you combine both Financial and Management Accounting aspects of the Group Treasury business. You deliver optimal

Together with the members of your expert domain, you provide top quality services, aiming for continuous improvement of the financial and internal control processes.   You work in close collaboration with your manager as well as your domain members in Brussels and in Manila, and the colleagues in the other Accounting and Finance Business Advise teams.  You will also support and collaborate with the Centre of Expertise Reporting , Tax Department, the Tribe Finance & Risk Support Chain and Group Finance.

Your key responsibilities

The Finance Treasury Controller & Advisor is responsible within the domain for both run and change activities.  He/She ensures timeliness and accuracy of financial processes and supports the Center of Expertise Reporting for statutory, regulatory and management reporting. He/She has an end-to-end knowledge of Finance processes and a good business understanding, enabling him/her to perform controls and trend analyses.  He/she supports the business (Group Treasury) with advises for strategic decisions.

More specifically, he/she has the responsibility & oversight over the following areas:

• Delivery/process : Deliver the monthly closing process, and ensure accurate Financial and Management Accounting figures & analyses by
  • Act as a trusted advisor by supporting the business/ product leads with strategic analysis;
  • Designing and implementing the correct accounting schemes;
  • performing key (Sox-) controls implemented and pro-actively assessing risk areas;
  • performing ad hoc analysis / in-depth analytical reviews;
  • providing the specific disclosures supporting Balance sheet and P&L;
  • implementing and executing quality controls (review) over General Ledger and P&L;
  • Explaining evolutions and making sure unusual/special items are processed accurately.

• Be involved in the overall Dynamic plan and forecasting process
  • Responsible for providing accurate forward looking financial plans for a broad range of banking products
  • Challenges stakeholders on income developments

• Change Management: Monitor pro-actively continuous improvements in data and processes and support new product implementations by advising on the consequences for the Finance processes and applications and testing new developments. You know relevant experts and ensure compliancy with regulation. 

• Act as a connector and manage business relations with other departments mainly Group Treasury and Market Risk Management, and connect with the functional line of Finance Group Treasury in Amsterdam.

• Be a first contact person for (external) auditors. You ensure quality and correctness of information and replies towards external auditors and regulators.

As FINANCE Treasury Controller and Advisor, you need:

• A Master in Finance, Economics or equal via experience
• any proven experience in Finance, preferably in banks is clearly an asset.
• Knowledge of IFRS, Bank accounting and financial instruments is key
• Eager to learn and able to work both autonomously and in team
• Good knowledge of English, and Dutch or French is a plus
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Strong communication skills
• To be analytical and multi-disciplinary

• ability to resist stress and be able to be flexible when deadlines are due
