HR Legal Counsel/Labor Relations Responsible in Brussel-Hoofdstad

As HR Legal Counsel for Belgium and Luxembourg you will be part of the HR team and report to our Country HR manager. This is an amazing opportunity if you would like to have a lot of variation in your daily work as you will be responsible for the following 2 facets: Legal Support and Social Relations

Main tasks (list non-exhaustive)

Legal Support

• Supports proactively the salary department, the payroll manager and the CHR on legal matters

• Provides support and advices to the management of the organization

• Informs, gives training and supports to area teams and store managers about social legislation

• Coaches colleagues within the organization about social legislation
• Provides a quick and qualitative service to answer to legal questions from the organization

• Maintains an excellent knowledge of labor law in general

• Is responsible for managing and monitoring various projects and court procedures

• Is responsible for the information and communication related to social legislation

Social Relations

• Is responsible for all relations with the union delegation on a national level and gives regional support

• Presides the company council and CPPT

• Organizes all meetings of the consultative bodies , prepares them and FU

• Ensures that staff representatives exercise their mandate in a correct way , with respect for legal and conventional rules

• Informs, provides trainings and coaches managers within the organization in their relationships with the union representatives

• Organizes social elections with the support of the salary department

• Ensures that the relationship between employer and employees is balanced , to make sure that social concertation can take place in an atmosphere of mutual trust

• Is responsible for the internal and external communication for everything related to social concertation

• Creates and manages the overview of all decisions taken within the framework of social concertation

• Is the contact person for the employer’s federation concerning social affairs

Knowledge and competencies

• Master degree : Labor Law
• Level : minimum 5 years experience of relevant law firm and/or in house experience preferred
• Ability to shift gears flexibly and frequently, in a fast-paced environment. Great time management skills required.
• Strong personal leadership
• Ability to communicate clearly, drive high level meetings and manage well at all levels of the organization
• Self-motivated and able to work independently while still working within a team environment and fostering a strong team collaboration internally
• Creative problem solver
• Flexible and adaptable to change according to changing business needs
• Experience in the retail sector is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch, French and English
