Equipment engineer in Antwerpen area

We are offering positions as ‘Equipment Engineer’ at our polymer plants in Zwijndrecht (Antwerp Polymers Plant, APP) and Meerhout (Meerhout Polymers Plant, MPP), which are both chemical sites that produce a variety of (specialty) polyethylene copolymer grades.

The production process builds on proprietary ExxonMobil Technology, in which ethylene gas is compressed to >2000bar before reaction occurs into a reactor. The hot polymer is subsequently being cut into pellets (and packaged) before transportation to the customers.

Due to the wide variety of equipment, the technical difficulties of working at high gas pressures and the production of specialty grades, this manufacturing site creates a challenging environment for engineers to learn and to develop themselves.

As an equipment engineer you are the “technical” owner of an equipment discipline. Since APP and MPP are medium size organizations, you will have a large area of responsibility for a significant fleet of equipment as an equipment engineer.

You are responsible to solve problems in close collaboration with other engineers, operations and maintenance colleagues to ensure safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost effective operation of the equipment. You will be responsible to drive improvements that may lead to new capital projects.

You will be part of a highly competent, diverse, young and international team in which all different disciplines such as machinery, fixed equipment, inspection, electrical, analyzers and instrumentation are combined. In addition, you will participate in a network that combines engineers of the same discipline at ExxonMobil sites across the region.

Your profile:

• Preferred education: 5 year university education MSc Engineering. 
• Fluent in Dutch and English
• Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Proactive, with an ability to anticipate, identify and resolve potential issues
• Effective leadership skills, including influencing with no direct formal authority
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with people from various backgrounds in developing innovative solutions
