Your role & work environment

Within the Finance department at ING Belgium, the Center of Expertise Control :

  • Is responsible to ensure that the evaluation of Sox / ICFR (internal control over financial reporting) is adequately established and maintained within the Bank
  • makes sure that the internal control framework within Accounting & Reporting is adequate.
  • Advises, communicates and implements accounting standards

Your will be part of the internal control domain of Finance which has the mission to safeguard the overall control framework of the Accounting & Reporting processes.

Your key responsibilities

You are looking to add real value to the business and to deliver results by setting the right priorities. You are working in a structured way and are paying attention to detail. You are eager to be in control, work autonomously while also able to collaborate and coordinate work done across teams. You are flexible and stress-resistant regarding deadlines.

With your team colleagues you take ownership of the following responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the maintenance of the Finance process documentation (CoFOE  - Control Framework & Operational Excellence): guide the process owners, review the process documentation, guarantee alignment between process documentation and support the implementation of new process descriptions;
  • Support the FSCP (Financial Statements Closing Process) owner in the implementation and maintenance of the SOx framework for Accounting & Reporting (narrative, walkthrough, SOx controls);
  • Implement and maintain the various standards applicable to the department : Process Control Standard Financial & Regulatory Reporting, EBA Sourcing guidelines…
  • Support and improve specific control areas within the Accounting & Reporting domains (e.g. coordinate the annual Internal Control Statement, support the Confirmation Letters process, detect Unusual Transactions, …);
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in processes, come with proposals to review the design and help in the implementation of process improvements;
  • Manage the Finance Internal Accounts Control Framework by performing Level 2 controls on internal accounts managed by Finance and by ensuring coordination and animation of the Finance community regarding the controls on internal accounts

As our new Internal Control Analyst, you need to also have:

  • A master degree or equivalent through experience
  • Experience in Finance, Audit, Internal Control, Operational Risk or SOx
  • Knowledge of Financial and Management Accounting and/or Reporting processes are a strong plus
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including ability to listen and learn
  • Good knowledge of MS office
  • Good knowledge of Dutch or French, and English
