 Here at Mediahuis we are looking for   

a QA Automation Engineer for Domain News who is responsible for the smooth operation of the websites and apps of our international and Belgian newspapers (Gazet Van Antwerpen, De Telegraaf, Het Nieuwsblad, INM, De Limburger, De Standaard, …). As a company with 6 million users using our digital products every day, our ambition is to play an international role in the field of mobile news experience.

Will contribute to the highest quality solution for our newspaper titles and our readers based on your previous experience in testing and a keen interest in testing automation. You will enjoy taking initiative and putting quality first and you believe in the power of collaboration. 

Why you exactly?

You are happy to freely experiment with tools to optimise the automated testing process. To do so, you will be given the freedom to immerse yourself in this process. Although we are not looking for a developer, you have sufficient technical knowledge to extend our collection of technical tests. In addition to software quality, you also attach significant importance to the process. 

You consider it an asset that as a QA Automation Engineer you are not the last person to be consulted, but you will be at the table throughout the entire discovery & delivery process. You believe in the added value of technologies that have a direct impact on end users, our readers.  

You will be part of a close-knit QA community that regularly meets together to share best practice and so improve overall collaboration. 

Your technical skills : 

• You have some preliminary experience of manual web and/or app testing, preferably in an agile environment;  

• You have experience of one or more scripting or programming languages, preferably JavaScript.

• If you have experience with automated testing frameworks such as webdriver.io or Cypress, that will be a great asset.

• You are certified in a testing methodology (ISTQB, T-Map, etc.); 

• You will be responsible for meeting requirements and achieving high-quality delivery of our technologies; 

• You will work within a centralised testing framework that is JavaScript-oriented and based on the use of Selenium and Appium.

• You will monitor the quality of the applications and their underlying processes by testing them in a structured and methodical manner using test scenarios that you may or may not have designed yourself;  

• You will examine the software delivery process with a critical eye and provide suggestions where necessary; 

• You can work independently but also attach significant importance to a good team spirit. You also realise that the department plays an important central role within a large international group. Within your field you will be developing your role to be an expert and ambassador; 

• You will always be willing to help your colleagues, even outside your specialist areas.

What we are not able to deduce from your CV is how analytical, driven, motivated or committed you are. That is what we are particularly interested in! 

You have an agile mindset and really like this way of working. You also know how important it is to communicate effectively so that everyone is always on board. You speak fluent English. And speaking Dutch is a definite asset.
