Your role & work environment

The Conduct Compliance and Culture team (CC&C) is part of the Compliance Department of ING Belgium sa. The purpose of the CC&C team is to manage risks arising from Unfair Customer Treatment, Market Conduct, Organisational Risk, Conflict of Interests and Data Protection.
Culture and Ethic are also part of the CC&C team and deal with culture & ethics risks related to our norms, attitudes and behaviours.

The CC&C team consists of 12 compliance officers.

Your key responsibilities

Help the Business (1st Line of Defense) to manage the compliance risks:

  • You analyse the compliance risks of products, processes or projects and you formulate compliance advice
  • You challenge and support the Business in the implementation of compliance policies, guidelines and instructions (e.g. ESG matters, sustainable finance and projects, conflict of interests, treating customer fairly, consumer protection/law, digitization, ..)
  • You  identify new compliance risks when coming from new events or change in the organization or coming from new legal requirements
  • You participate in the development of some key compliance processes (new policies, work place instructions, risk assessment, ..) and in the knowledge and awareness of the compliance risks
  • You report to the Senior Management in relation to these compliance risks and activities

As a Compliance Officer you will also need:

  • A Master degree or an equivalent experience;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a bank or a financial institution, ideally with a compliance, legal, non-financial risk and/or project management background;
    Knowledge of ESG matters and credit activities of the bank is a plus
  • Good communication skills, being able to convey complex messages in simple ways both orally and on paper;
  • To be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, who is able to build effective working relationships and thrive in a diversified and multicultural work environment;
  • To be flexible: you adjust approaches and seek different paths in a targeted manner.
  • Excellent written & spoken French, Dutch and English
