Your role & work environment

As part of the Distribution Sales team, you are ING’s face to the market for all transactions where loans and loan- based products are distributed to the wider investor community. Types of transactions include primary loan syndications, secondary loan sales as well as the establishment of partnerships with investors that support our sectors and lending origination efforts. You and your colleagues are responsible for a unified and integrated investor coverage up to CIO level, managing the relationship and loan sales transaction towards investors. Success is defined both by the number of well executed transactions you do and by the quality of market insight you share with your stakeholders.

Your Distribution Sales colleagues are located across 5 global hubs (Amsterdam, Brussels, London, New York & Singapore). You work closely with your Capital Velocity partners within Sectors and Lending, CTO and CMA (LCM, GBSD, CPG and Sector Coverage) taking ownership of the sales strategy and execution of these transactions as well as providing them valuable market insight during the structuring and distribution process. You are continuously aligned with our coverage partners (FM Institutions Sales team and Financial Institutions Sector coverage) to ensure the investor community receives a consistent ING experience. We report to the Global Head of Institutional Sales and Distribution.

On a daily basis you manage relationships and transactions with investors and provide market intelligence to loan origination and loan capital market teams. You will strengthen the wider team to reach the common goals:

Primary loan syndication & secondary loan sales

  • Pro-actively build and maintain relationships with the bank and non-bank financial institutions (NBFI) investor base.
  • Help the investor obtain credit approval by addressing their information needs, sharing deal and sector expertise and monitoring the progress of the syndication process.
  • Drive the distribution of loans from ING’s balance sheet in a coordinated sale process towards our expanding international institutional investor base.
  • Deepen investor relationships through frequent targeted investment proposals as well as through physical meetings.

Market insight to internal stakeholders

  • Drive and/or join in dialogue with colleagues from the origination value chain by delivering market soundings, by capturing and sharing a multi-facet market and liquidity view for specific loan types, sectors, asset classes, structures and distribution formats.
  • Ultimately contribute to steer ING’s origination activity towards more distributable assets by internally sharing distribution potential.

A colleague with a talent for taking it on and making it happen, enthusiasm for helping others to be successful and a knack for always being a step ahead. In other words, you strive to bring fresh ideas to life and embrace challenges in a fast changing and complex environment. You are a naturally collaborative person who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals. You love to challenge the status quo and are eager to propose creative solutions to problems.

As Distribution Sales,

  • You are commercially driven when building relationships and relationship-driven when executing transactions.
  • You think on your feet and have the ability to make things happen.
  • You work well in a flat organization, where teamwork is central, putting team interest before personal ones.
  • You pro-actively contribute to an inclusive workplace culture.
  • You communicate clearly, be it verbally, email or through power point or excel.
  • You are analytical, can think out of the box and are committed to be part of the solution.
  • You are organized and structured. Data quality is part of your DNA.
  • You have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working with loan products in a wholesale banking setting.
  • You are fluent in English and speak at least one other language.
  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
