Your role & work environment

 

As Funding and Liquidity risk officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and advising the Bank on key risks and strategic decision making in the domain of Funding & Liquidity, particularly on risks arising from the commercial and Group Treasury activities of ING Belgium.

You will play a central role by enhancing the monitoring of funding and liquidity risks in an efficient and sustainable way, in order to manage those risks within acceptable levels.

The main activities of your future team include risk identification, risk measurement and analysis, scenarios definition and stress testing, risk appetite definition and monitoring, risk transfer processes, and the reporting to senior management and deciding bodies (e.g. SLIM, ALCO, etc.).

As part of this role, you ensure compliance with internal and external standards, and you interact with a transversal and senior audience, both locally and with ING Group and other entities. Your active contribution and collaboration to the team is key to ensure the application of a comprehensive Funding & Liquidity risks framework.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Monitoring and reporting:
    • Analyse the Bank’s monthly liquidity evolution;
    • Provide in depth analysis of funding & liquidity risks, challenge and discuss with colleagues from the commercial network, Group Treasury and Finance;
    • Make sure that these risks are adequately transferred/hedged, and that the remaining positions are in line with the risk appetite set by the Bank;
    • Prepare the monthly liquidity and funding risks dashboard, contribute to quarterly and yearly reviews and continously enhance the monitoring framework in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Measurement and stress testing:
    • Predict the impact of potential balance sheet evolutions on key risk metrics, and assess the Bank’s liquidity position under both probable and stressed scenarios;
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards on measurement and stress testing;
    • Enhance the stress testing framework of the Bank by applying a consistent approach in line with other risk types.
  • Risk Appetite setting: review the limit framework and the completeness and adequacy of risk metrics and methodologies, taking into account the evolution of the Bank, the competitive landscape and the market environment while actively discussing with colleagues both locally and at Group level.
  • Risk transfer: contribute to and continuously enhance the risk transfer process in a rapidly changing market environment, ensuring consistent and aligned methodologies of risk identification and transfer across interest rate and liquidity risks.
  • Detect and understand the liquidity risks that are present in existing and new products from the Retail, Business and Wholesale Banking networks and keep a critical watch on broader macroeconomic environment to ensure emerging risks are early detected.

As a Funding and Liquidity risk officer you will also need:

  • A master degree, preferably with an economic or quantitative background
  • Affinity with financial calculus and data management
  • Understanding of a Bank's balance sheet and its dynamic
  • Knowledge of financial instruments is a plus (bonds, interest rate derivatives)
  • Experience in financial risk management is a plus, while a dedicated experience in funding & liquidity risk is a clear competitive edge for this role
  • Proficient usage of Office applications and affinity with IT tools in general  
  • Good oral and written skills in English, French and/or Dutch are a plus
