An Educational Support Teacher for English L2 (M/F)

The European Schools are an intergovernmental organisation offering multilingual and multicultural education. Job description The Educational support teachers are hired under the employee status. The Educational support teacher · will work with pupils who need Educational Support and who have special educational needs (learning, emotional, behavioural and/or physical needs); · will use appropriated differentiated teaching methods and support pupils in developing appropriate learning strategies using adapted teaching material; · will undertake detailed observation and assessment and support Class and Subject teachers in early identification of educational support needs; · will decide on the most appropriate teaching strategies for the pupil, in consultation with the class or subject teacher and any other professionals working with the pupil; · will liaise and work under the coordination of the Support Coordinator; · will liaise and cooperate with the Class or Subject teachers and the other members of the team during the learning process, advising them on the various learning profiles of pupils with specific learning needs and special education needs and innovative approaches in teaching and learning to cater for those needs; · will evaluate the pupil’s progress; · will attend meetings and trainings Profile Qualifications and training: · Native speaker or thorough knowledge of English (C1/C2 level certified if not native speaker. · Knowledge of at least one second working language of the school (French/German) would be an advantage. · Knowledge of other languages of existing sections in the school would be an asset. · University degree (validated by the national authorities) permitting to teach in the primary cycle. · Qualification and experience in the area of Educational Support/Inclusive education/special education needs. · understands and recognizes the key principles of inclusive quality education; · supports all pupils, particularly those receiving educational support; · has a sound knowledge of strategies for use with students with learning difficulties; · has knowledge to develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils; · has knowledge of specialised teaching material adapted to particular educational support needs; · is flexible, creative and able to develop and adapt resources, to motivate children and youngsters; · has good organisational, time management and planning skills; · and has a strong motivation in teaching in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Offer We are offering ad interim contracts in accordance with the Service regulations for the locally recruited teachers in the European schools (Ref.: 2016-05-D-11-en-19) available on the EE website: · Starting day: 1 September 2026 · Duration: We offer a fixed-term contract for one year (approximately 10 to 15 hours per week), from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027. An extension of the contract is possible under certain conditions. · The gross salary is 60.918 € per year for full-time (25,5 hours per week) in primary education.
